Graphic Logs
Observations and measurements of rock data need to
be methodically recorded in the field. This is usually
accomplished by constructing a graphic log in your field
notebook, supplemented with field sketches, and
photographs. Graphic logs are a standard way of compiling descriptive
information in a concise and visual manner and they graphically
document features such as mean grain
size, bed geometry, sedimentary structures, paleocurrents,
fossils, and colors, etc. from the base of the outcrop to its
top.
