The links on the left are designed to guide you through a field season of examining the evolution of Mollusks along the shores of Chesapeake Bay.  Based on the research methods utilized by Patricia Kelley, this module goes through the process geologists utilize when they do research, with particular emphasis placed upon experimental design and data integrity.  This module covers all aspects of a good field study by engaging in a comprehensive exploration of evolutionary change via the use of an integrated blend of written text, multimedia, and photographs.  The field trip begins with and in depth background of the field area, covers the process of collecting and quantify fossil data, and ends with a tutorial on how geologists organize and utilize a wide variety of data to quantify evolutionary relationships over geologic time.
