Plum Point
Plum Point is located in the northern end of
Calvert
County. The majority of sediment within the cliffs belongs to
the Calvert Formation, the oldest rock unit exposed in Calvert
County. The 70-75 foot-thick cliffs of the Calvert
Formation at Plum Point can be subdivided into
two members and several Shattuck fossil assemblage zones. A
great number of fossilized shark teeth and mollusks are preserved
at this location.
